「We begin to tell」
光灯では6月19日（木）より、グループ展「We begin to tell」を開催します。本展では、「個人的な物語」をテーマにしたアーティストの作品を紹介します。参加アーティストは金井冬樹、栗原あき、田村正樹、毬谷静の4名です。
人は誰しも、自らが過ごしてきた固有の時間を持っています。そうした個人の歴史は、人の誇りや自尊心、あるいは痛みと結びつき、自分という存在の拠り所となることがあります。価値観や生き方が多様化し、共通の言語や前提が見出しにくくなっている現代において、大きな歴史や物語を共有することは、以前より難しくなっています。
ですが、私たちの身の周りでおきた体験や経験は、他者のそれと重ね合わされることで、より親密な対話をすることができるかもしれません。本展では、そうした「個人的な歴史」や「個人的な物語」をテーマに、活動領域の異なる4名のアーティストへ作品を依頼しました。
アーティストが見てきたものを描き出し、あるいは形にしていく過程は、それがフィクションであってもノンフィクションであっても、すべてが個人的な物語の一部であると言えます。
本展のタイトル「We begin to tell／私たちは語りはじめる」は、そうした物語の発露の第一歩に焦点を当てます。
誰かが“語りはじめる”ことで、個人的な記憶や感情は初めて可視化され、「誰かがここにいた」「こう感じていた」という痕跡として、世界に刻まれていきます。その語りが断片的であっても、それは他者と世界をつなぎなおす手がかりとなりうるはずです。
本展は、作品に正解を探すのではなく、鑑賞をとおして考え、検証したり実験したりしながら、みんなであれこれ話し合ってみることのできるような時間にしたいと考えます。
個人の経験から生まれ出た物語は、ときに繊細な切実さを、ときに大胆な発想をたたえながら、私たちに新たな視点や気づきをもたらしてくれることでしょう。ぜひご高覧ください。

“We begin to tell”
Starting June 19 (Thu), we will host the group exhibition “We begin to tell,” featuring works by four artists centered around the theme of “personal narratives”: Fuyuki Kanai, Aki Kurihara, Masaki Tamura, and Shizuka Mariya.
Each person carries their own unique time and history. These individual histories—whether sources of pride, dignity, or pain—can serve as anchors for one’s identity. In our contemporary world, where shared values and common narratives are increasingly difficult to establish, it has become harder to connect through grand, collective stories.
However, by overlapping the personal experiences and memories that surround us with those of others, we may be able to foster more intimate dialogues.
For this exhibition, we invited four artists working in different domains to explore the theme of “personal history” and “personal storytelling.”
Whether fictional or nonfictional, the process of visualizing and shaping what the artist has seen or experienced becomes a part of their personal narrative.
The exhibition’s title, “We begin to tell”, focuses on that initial moment of expression.
When someone begins to “tell,” memories and emotions start to take form—leaving behind traces of presence, of feeling, of having been there.
Even fragmented narratives can serve as a means to reconnect with others and the world.
Rather than seeking definitive interpretations, we hope this exhibition will offer a space and time to reflect, explore, and converse freely through the act of viewing.
Stories born from personal experience often embody delicate urgency or bold imagination.
We believe they hold the power to bring fresh perspectives and insights.

Artist Profile
金井冬樹 Kanai Fuyuki
1988年長野県生まれ。イラストレーター・マンガ家として雑誌や書籍に作品を提供する傍ら、自身の経験を基にしたテキスト作品やコミックなどをまとめたzineの創作を行う。主な仕事にケイト・ザンブレノ著、西山敦子訳『ヒロインズ』の装画、レベッカ・ブラウン著、柴田元幸訳『ゼペット』の挿絵など。自身の作品集としては、2015～17年に発表したzineをまとめた『LONG WAY HOME』、2022年に渋谷PARCOで開催した個展の様子を記録した『ゆっくりと届く祈り』など。
Born in Nagano Prefecture in 1988. An illustrator and manga artist who contributes to magazines and books. He also produces zines that compile comics and texts based on his personal experiences.
Notable works include the cover art for Heroines by Kate Zambreno (trans. Atsuko Nishiyama) and illustrations for The Gospels of Z by Rebecca Brown (trans. Motoyuki Shibata).
Publications include LONG WAY HOME (2015–17 zine collection) and Prayers That Arrive Slowly (documenting his 2022 solo exhibition at Shibuya PARCO).
栗原あき Kurihara Aki
1977年生まれ。女子美術大学油彩科卒業。デジタルハリウッドVFX科卒業。主な展覧会に、2020年「NICE TO MEET YOU」（Mount tokyo、東京）、21・22年「CATPOWER」（ L’illustre Galerie LE MONDE 、東京）、 22年「meets! art」（コネクト、愛知）、「Salon Art Shopping Paris 2022」（カルーゼル・デュ・ルーブル、パリ）、個展「landscape」（ギャラリールマニ、千葉）、個展「Living」（ギャラリー百年と一日、東京）など。24~25年、熱海グランバッハホテルに9点収蔵。
Born in 1977. Graduated from Joshibi University of Art and Design, Oil Painting Department, and Digital Hollywood VFX Department.
Selected exhibitions include: NICE TO MEET YOU (2020, Mount tokyo, Tokyo), CATPOWER (2021–22, L’illustre Galerie LE MONDE, Tokyo), meets! art (2022, Connect, Aichi), Salon Art Shopping Paris (2022, Carrousel du Louvre, Paris), and solo shows landscape (Gallery Lumani, Chiba) and Living (Gallery Hyakunen to Ichinichi, Tokyo).

田村正樹 Tamura Masaki
1995年生まれ。東京藝術大学大学院美術研究科修了。“自己の内的イメージを掘り下げ、この世界の有り様を捉えること” をテーマに据え、自己と他者、生と死、愛と憎しみなど、対立する概念が画面上で混じり合い、絡み合っていくような絵画世界を描く。シート壁画や手製本した本の作品、ドローイングTシャツなど、素材や技法の枠にとらわれない幅広い表現活動をおこなっている。第36回ホルベイン・スカラシップ奨学生に選出。主な展覧会に、 23年個展『（仮）』（藝大アートプラザ、東京） 、24年個展『水と油』（OIL by 美術手帖ギャラリー、東京）など。
Born in 1995. Completed MFA at Tokyo University of the Arts.
Explores themes like inner imagery, the nature of the world, life and death, love and hatred—blending these opposing ideas on the canvas. His work includes sheet murals, hand-bound books, and T-shirts, crossing material and media boundaries.
Recipient of the 36th Holbein Scholarship.
Exhibitions include solo show [Tentative] (2023, Geidai Art Plaza, Tokyo) and Oil and Water (2024, OIL by Bijutsu Techo Gallery, Tokyo).
毬谷静 Mariya Shizuka
1992年愛媛県生まれ、香川県在住。京都精華大学デザイン学部ビジュアルデザイン学科卒業。アクリルガッシュを使って、生物や風景を描いている。主な展覧会に、18年グループ展「Les Filles Terribles ~恐るべき少女たち~」（L’illustre Galerie LE MONDE 、東京）、19年個展「ARE YOU AWAKE? SHE’S STILL DREAMING.」 （新宿眼科画廊スペースE、東京）、23年個展「花のワルツ」（新宿眼科画廊スペースE、東京）、24年個展「Secret Garden」（atelier art space and shop M、神奈川）
Born in Ehime Prefecture in 1992, currently based in Kagawa. Graduated from Kyoto Seika University, Visual Design Department.
Works primarily in acrylic gouache, depicting organisms and landscapes.
Exhibitions include: Les Filles Terribles (2018, LE MONDE, Tokyo), solo show ARE YOU AWAKE? SHE’S STILL DREAMING. (2019, Shinjuku Ganka Gallery Space E, Tokyo), Waltz of Flowers (2023, same venue), and Secret Garden (2024, atelier art space and shop M, Kanagawa).
