“やまびこ”

このたび光灯では、竹浪音羽個展「やまびこ」を2月5日（木）〜22日（日）に開催いたします。本展では、これまで紙とアクリル絵具をメインに用いてきた竹浪にとって、初の試みとなる油彩画を発表します。

1989年静岡県生まれ、現在は東京を拠点に活動を続ける竹浪は、日常のなかでふと心に残ったさりげない風景や、生き物や植物のかすかな生命のきらめきをすくいとるように描いてきました。また、挿絵や装画などイラストレーションの分野でも活躍しています。

昨夏、光灯で開催した個展「絵を描く日」では、地元・静岡と東京を往復する生活のなかで生じた心情の移り変わりを、静岡の山並みと都市の風景に重ねました。

本展「やまびこ」では、引き続き2つの街を見つめながら、油絵具という新たな画材と向き合うなかで生まれた風景画を中心に展示します。

紙に描くアクリル画とは異なり、乾燥に時間を要する油彩画は試行錯誤の連続だったと竹浪は話します。しかしその過程で、これまで日記的だったモチーフは一層厳選され、油彩画ではさらに絵画性が際立ちます。もともと竹浪の絵に内在していた静かな物語性も相まって、風景は奥行きを帯び、見る物の内側へ静かに響きわたる作品世界が立ち上がります。

なお本展は、東京・蔵前の古書店Frobergueで開催される個展「はな」（会期：1月29日［木］〜2月16日［日］）と同時期開催となります。2つの会場をつなぐスタンプラリーも実施。あわせてご高覧いただけましたら幸いです。

アーティスト・プロフィール

竹浪音羽　Takenami Otoha

1989年静岡生まれ東京在住。美学校、パレットクラブスクール修了。アーティスト・イラストレーターとして、個展の開催や書籍の装画などに携わる。最近の主な個展に、2025年「絵を描く日」（光灯、東京）、「雑踏／POPOLAS」（一日／百年、東京）ほか。装画に、単行本『風になるにはまだ』著･笹原千波（2025）、『黙って喋って』著･ヒコロヒー（2024）などがある。

“Echo (Yamabiko)”

Kohtoh is pleased to present Echo (Yamabiko), a solo exhibition by Otoha Takenami, on view from February 5 to February 22, 2026. This exhibition marks Takenami’s first presentation of oil paintings. Until now, she has primarily worked with acrylic paint on paper, and this new body of work represents a significant shift in her materials and approach.

Born in 1989 in Shizuoka Prefecture and currently based in Tokyo, Takenami has depicted modest, fleeting landscapes that quietly linger in her memory, as well as the subtle glimmers of life found in animals and plants encountered in everyday life. Alongside her artistic practice, she has also been active in the field of illustration, producing book covers and editorial imagery.

In the summer of last year, her solo exhibition A Day of Painting at Kohtoh explored emotional transitions shaped by her life moving back and forth between her hometown of Shizuoka and Tokyo, overlaying those shifts onto the mountain ranges of Shizuoka and urban landscapes.

In Echo (Yamabiko), Takenami continues to observe these two cities while engaging with oil paint as a new medium. The exhibition centers on landscapes created through this process. Unlike acrylic painting on paper, oil painting requires long drying times, and Takenami describes the process as one of continuous trial and error. Through this experience, her once diary-like motifs have become more carefully selected, allowing the painterly qualities of her work to emerge with greater clarity.

Combined with the quiet narrative sensibility long embedded in Takenami’s practice, these landscapes gain depth and resonance, giving rise to a contemplative world that gently reverberates within the viewer.

This exhibition will be held concurrently with Takenami’s solo exhibition Hana at the antiquarian bookstore Frobergue in Kuramae, Tokyo (January 29 – February 16). A stamp rally connecting the two venues will also be held, and visitors are warmly encouraged to experience both exhibitions together.

Biography

Otoha Takenami

Born in 1989 in Shizuoka, Japan. Lives and works in Tokyo. Graduated from Bigakko and Palette Club School.

Working as both an artist and illustrator, Takenami has held solo exhibitions and produced illustrations for books and publications. Recent solo exhibitions include A Day of Painting (2025, Kohtoh, Tokyo) and Crowd / POPOLAS (2025, Ichinichi / Hyakunen, Tokyo).

Her recent book cover illustrations include Kaze ni Naru ni wa Mada by Chinami Sasahara (2025) and Damatteteshabette by Hikorohi (2024).
